News: 50 Cent busted lip syncing (with Video)
RAPPER 50 Cent has suffered an embarrassing blow at the BET awards, when he was caught lip synching live on stage, watched by millions of people. Entertainment site MediaTakeOut.com report that 50 Cent was caught out from the beginning of his performance, after being ceremoniously lowered onto stage on a podium. The "What Up Gangsta" rapper clearly lip synched the initial chorus to the hit song "Amusement Park." After the chorus ended, he tried to continue mouthing the songs lyrics. But unfortunately for 50, DJ Whoo Kidd played the instrumental version. [ Full Story ]
News: Buju waves goodbye to 'Boom Bye Bye'?
Due to the recent uproar about three of our top dancehall voices being censored by gay rights movements after allegedly signing a statement that denounce performing what they refer to as hate songs, Buju Banton’s Gargamel Music sent a letter to One876Entertainment.com to address the image of the artiste that is being portrayed by the gay community. The release signed by the President of Gargamel Music, Inc. Traci McGregor states: After hearing about the concerns being voiced by members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender community about international reggae icon Buju Banton, I felt it was important to reach out, as the public portrait that has been painted of Buju as an artist who has espoused violence, hatred and negativity his entire career is one of absolute fraud. Indeed a young Buju Banton wrote the incendiary anti-gay tune “Boom Bye Bye” back when he was a mere 15 years old. Penned in response to a widely publicized man/boy rape case in Jamaica, it caused a furor in the states when it was re-released four years later in 1992. For the record, he had not performed the song since the early nineties and regularly speaks out against violence - against all people. “I was a child when I wrote those lyrics,” Buju admits. “But let me make it clear that I do not encourage or condone violence towards any human being, and that includes our gay brothers and sisters.” Last year, when Buju once again found himself the target of a new generation of gay activists, he utilized two lines from “Boom Bye Bye” only as a springboard to discuss the enduring persecution he has faced because of the song and to assure his fans just how much he has evolved since. Yet certain factions of the gay community have continued to use it against him in an attempt to discredit him in the media. [ Full Story ]
News: Ninja Man and Bounty at War
Deejays Bounty Killer a.k.a The Warlord and the ‘Don Gorgon’ Ninja Man are in a war of words over a controversial diss song voiced by Bounty Killer that disses Ninjaman’s ‘wife’. “Remember say Bounty Killer go Sting and say f—k the gigolo and kill the ho, and a gigolo is a man, so how him fi do tune and say me a marry go go? A snippet of the lyrics to Bounty Killer’s diss song go:
“Ninja Man, that’s you? Nuh mek up nothing bout me that you don’t know? Which big artiste sex donkey and hoe? Sniff a bag a coke and don’t turn up for stage show? Ninja Man dismissed the Killer’s arguments as ‘bad-minded’ and suggested they were indicative of just how desperate Bounty Killer was to get a hype. “Bounty caan survive unless him and ah next artiste ah trace, and right now, him and Beenie water down, him and Kartel try do a ting, and now, ah me him a pick pon, and ah talk ‘bout who tek taxi and who tek coke. News: Reggae Gold's hits and misses
This is the first year that I wasn't looking forward to VP Records' usually anticipated summer collection, Reggae Gold. There hasn't been any track hot enough to make you stand up and take strong notice. The latest edition of the Reggae Gold compilation does have a few hits and misses. Reggae Gold 2007 edition contains some tracks that we are already familiar with (mind you, they might be new to the US market), and there are also a few tracks included that makes you wonder how they made it in the first place. The devoted Reggae Gold fanatic might find relief with tracks such as Bad From Mi Born by Munga (at least his one is quite current); Last Night by Mavado; Bring It by Elephant Man; Brooklyn And Jamaica by Morgan Heritage; My Fadah Seh by Gyptian; Hideaway by Tessanne Chin; Love and Affection by Pressure (great song); Sacrifice by Alaine (a decent song); More Woman by Shaggy; and I Need Her in My Arms by I Wayne (where has he been?). News: Byron 'the Dragon' Lee's new fire
His absence from the Jamaica Carnival observances earlier this year was deeply felt; even as he spoke to the Observer whilst seated inside the reception area at Radio Jamaica, several persons come up to tell him and to just express their good wishes. If goodwill was currency, Byron Lee would likely surpass the Top 10 of the Forbes Richest List combined.
But 'the Dragon', who, for the past 50 years, has been a driving force behind the development of Jamaican popular music, had to have his 'flame' focussed in another area. Lee spoke at some length about his recent operation and procedures carried out in his battle against cancer of the bladder. "They had to remove my bladder, and beyond that, my prostate and my appendix," he relates. "What they've done is a very new procedure in which my small and large intestines have been cut and rejoined in a sort of 'new bladder' which obviously not like a normal human bladder, but which over time, say a few years, will give me the functional use." With only six months gone since the operation, it's still early days but despite being visibly weakened, the outgoing nature and generosity of spirit that are his trademarks remain undiminished in conversation. By Lee's own account, they have been strengthened by a new spiritual perspective acquired in the process. [ Full Story ]

News: 'Fiddy' went alone, 'Curtis' a team player
On his first two albums, 50 Cent was the main star with little room for supporting players. With the exception of appearances by the likes of friends like Eminem and Young Buck, most of the songs were pure 50. On his upcoming album, though, he's more willing to share the mic.
Curtis, due out in September, features a who's who of pop stars, as Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Akon and Mary J. Blige are among those who collaborate on the rapper's third CD. Stand on my own 50 Cent, speaking to The Associated Press before a performance on Wednesday night at the Cipriani Wall Street concert series, said that previously he wanted to prove that he could stand on his own without celebrity help. News: Respect to Beenie Man at Bounty's 'Its' a party'
Bounty Killer and Beenie Man, both now in their mid-30s, have been at musical war since their late teens. However, on Saturday night there was respect of sorts for Beenie Man at Bounty Killer’s birthday celebration ‘It’s Tha Party’. Coming up to daylight, the Miami-based Nasheem Fire, who declared allegiance for life to the Bounty Killer-led Alliance, went R&B for the ladies, then older school dancehall, many women holding up a finger to confirm “one man in your life” at the Rockfort Mineral Spa, St. Andrew. News: Beres Hammond Confirmed for Sumfest
Internationally-renowned singer Beres Hammond will be performing at this year's staging of Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest, scheduled for July 15 to 21 in Montego Bay, the organisers confirm.

Johnny Gourzong, Executive Director of Summerfest Productions, organizers of the annual event, believes that Beres Hammond is without a doubt one of the greatest artistes and purveyors of reggae music. News: Nadine Sutherland's moving forward on all fronts
Forget what people think about you. Nadine Sutherland certainly has, and is a happier person for it. Her growth and new lease on life, are evident in almost every song on her new CD, Call My Name. It's filled with lyrics of self-appreciation, love, independence and upliftment - female empowerment as it were -wrapped in harmonious melodies.
Sutherland... I had a real defining moment when Action was released and my album was dropped from Electra. The big rumour that went all over the world was that I was on crack. It was destructive and like a snake, it permeated and I allowed it to by not speaking up. (Photos: Joseph Wellington) Bursting on the scene at a tender age, Sutherland was thrust in the limelight, unable to understand the rigours that came with the business. Today, through life experiences, she has decided to shed the negativity of the past and to try instead to exude contentment on a daily basis. [ Full Story ]

News: Akon throws kid into the audience (with Video)
Famed hip hop crooner Akon, better known for his sexually charged dance in Trinidad recently with 15 year old Danah Alleyne, is attempting to change his notoriety. Akon decided to physically throw a boy off the stage at a concert recently. We off course got the video showing Akon throw the kid off stage. We really hope this is it for Akon, a menace to patrons to his own shows. If it is not Tara Reid he is dry humping, then it might be not so innocent Danah Alleyne in Trinidad at Zen. Apology? The apologies coming from the mouth of Akon is not worth the air used to deliver. So Akon, do not even bother this time.
That youngster even if he threw the projectile at Akon probably did not deserve to be taken on stage by Akon's security detail. We truly hope his parents or even himself can get some good lawyers and shut down this act for good. [ Full Story ]
