News: Elephant Man/Wyclef collaboration for Bad Boy Album
The ‘Energy God’ Elephant Man recently completed a combination track with Haitian-born superstar Wyclef Jean on the bouncy single Five-O, a track that appears to taunt the gun-carrying civil servant everyone loves to hate – da cops. With an intro from P. Diddy himself, the resulting concoction is a Caribbean-flavoured single with definite cross-over pedigree, and according to dancehall insiders, could be the lead off single for Ele’s Bad Boy Records album due out this year. Wyclef kicks the track off a catchy singalong hook that belittles the cops’ attempts to catch him with incriminating evidence at his pad, or ‘riding dirrrty’. [ Full Story ]

News: Jamaican duo Brick & Lace to join Gwen Stefani & Akon on tour
SISTER DUO BRICK & LACE SET TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM "LOVE IS WICKED" ON AKON'S KON LIVE MUSIC LABEL JUNE 26TH
Having conquered US charts --"Locked Up," "Soul Survivor," "I Want to Love You" - wielding his melodic, mercurial voice, Akon is flexing his critical ear with Kon Live, a personal label distributed by Geffen Records. As impresario, Senegal's shining son was quick to solicit other imported flavor, signing Jamaican sister duo Brick & Lace as his debut act. The alliance makes perfect sense: sisters Nyanda and Nailah Thorbourne had already come to regard Akon, in demand as much for his production as his vocal stylings, as their "third member." He's all over their album Love is Wicked, lacing lead single "Never Never" with a grimy giddy-up. Set to serve as the summer's sultry soundtrack Love Is Wicked will be released on Kon Live/180 Ent./Geffen Records June 26th. The video for "Never Never" premieres on Yahoo TODAY while the song will be featured on iTunes March 27th as "SINGLE OF THE WEEK." Beenie Man is reportedly no longer a part of the Virgin Records roster. The dancehall kingpin recently parted company with the label after releasing four albums including a Grammy-winning disc. Sources close to his former management company, Shocking Vibes Productions, hinted that Beenie Man's departure from Shocking Vibes, as well as the low sales of his most recent Virgin album Undisputed, may have been contributing factors. Virgin will look to recoup their money from proceeding options, seeing that Beenie Man's last album flopped. He was signed through Shocking Vibes to Virgin." News: New York City Bans Racial Slur
New York City symbolically banned use of the word nigger on Wednesday, the latest step in a campaign that hopes to expunge the most vile of racial slurs from hip hop music and television. The City Council unanimously declared a moratorium that carries no penalty but aims to stop youth from casually using the word, considered by most Americans to be the most offensive in the English language. The New York City measure follows similar resolutions this month by the New York state assembly and state senate, and supporters of the ban are taking their campaign to The Recording Academy, asking it not to nominate musicians for Grammy awards if they use the word in their lyrics.
