"The competition was intense, the crowd was raucous, the judges were critical, and the winner was oh so serious- Serius Jones that is.

With a $10, 000 purse on the line, the New Jersey-native defeated Jin, the previous Fight Klub Champion last night in front of a packed house at a special AllHipHop.com-sponsored edition of the bi-weekly event in New York City.

“It wasn’t as hard as I expected it to be,” Jones told AllHipHop.com. The new Monday Night Fight Klub champ, who works under the tutelage of multi-platinum producer Needlez (50 Cent’s “Piggy Bank), was repeatedly accused by Jin of using pre-written verses. "

News: More Kanye West in Toronto Drama

Ok, I've been hearing nuff things about Kanye's recent trip to Toronto and how he has been getting on. Well it seems like thats not the end of it. I posted early the video from his interview at FLOW and how he walked out on them, but now I get this email from Dr. Jay who is Canada's biggest soca DJ letting the world know about Kanye's recent drama at a club he was at in Toronto.

Yes Kanye really does need to humble himself, however I doubt anybody is really going to care about what he's done. Look at what R. Kelly's done and the man still sellin nuff records. In the end when the music is good enough and the US is backing him nobody cares what he did in Toronto.

Them americans probably even laughing at us. He'll probably even come back to Toronto and play a sold out show, because of who he will have with him.

I just say leave the man and let him do his thing... the more we hype up the incident the more publicity he gets.

Anyway's here's Jay's email about the incident. Search my past posts to see the video.

PS... should have picked a better word than kakahole.. :)

--Knockz

------
Can you believe Kanye West?

Okay, I've read interviews with him in magazines and
seen his outbursts on TV when he didn't win an
award...but this guy gets the "kakahole of the month"
award for his behavior at the club this past Sunday
night...

to make a long story short, he was hired to be a
special guest host at METRO and he apparently gave
strict orders that he only wants to hear Hip Hop while
he's in the club...

okie dokie buddy...no scene...he doesn't get the award
for that cuz in my opinion, if the promoters are paying
him a big set of money and are caving into his demands,
then you can't blame the artist (no matter how ignorant
that it was)...but I can and will blame Kanye for the
"kakahole-ish" behavior he displayed...

Lil' Jon, Ludacris, Mos Def and Lil' Scrappy were all
inside the club enjoying themselves...this I saw with
my own two eyes...those artists and some Toronto Argos,
Mo Pete from the Toronto Raptors and a whole set of
ladies were in the VIP just chillin....

Then Kanye took the mic and said that he felt
disrespected cuz he was in the club for 45 minutes and
hadn't heard one of his songs yet...he proceeded to say
that he rules the radio and that he will never come
back to this establishment again...now mind you, I'm
standing just a few feet away from him and this guy
just had the most pompous look on his face..

He continues on how he felt disrespected and then the
DJ on the other mic tells him that its still early (I
think it was around bar closing time) and he has to
wait for the tribute...they start to rinse a set of
Kanye West tracks but the kakahole grabs his people and
exits thru a back door...

None of the other artists seemed to care about his
departure and neither did the crowd...perhaps this is
all a publicity stunt cuz his album is coming out and
any publicity is good publicity, right? For me though,
Kanye needs to humble himself and perhaps then people
will pay him the respect he feels he deserves...this
Sunday, the very first track on SOCA THERAPY will be
Maximus Dan's "Be Humble" in honour of the "kakahole of
the month".

News: Fantan Mojah's Hurting

"Fantan Mojah hates the bad-boy image he has acquired since his performance at Western Consciousness in Westmoreland earlier this year, and says he regrets his behaviour at that show.

That image, he said, cost him a performance on Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest last month and probably a few other shows in Kingston. He is therefore determined to quickly shake loose the perception because it has strained his relationship with the fans he really cares for - those who love God and want to hear the message in his music."

News: Degree in Manchester

"FANS FROM MANCHESTER were treated to a musical feast ranging from new artistes to roots reggae and dancehall acts at this year's staging of General Degree's Manchester Fiesta on Saturday night.

Several fans turned out to see their favourite artistes perform at the show which was held at the Kirkvine Sports Club. The show which started over an hour late featured several good performances that had the crowd screaming, shouting and begging for more.

To kick-start the show, several upcoming artistes from the parish got to showcase their lyrical and performing ability when the list of about 12 acts tried to gain the crowd's support, but not all succeeded. Artistes such as Caution, Nicky Culture, Crazy T, Lick Shot and Mr. Steele seemed to be the better of the bunch as their performances earned screams for more from the audience.

Local TRN provided musical back-up for the upcoming artistes and kept the crowd rocking to the rhythms. After a brief band change, the show resumed with the band Live Wyyah behind the instruments. "

News: Mariah vs Eminem

"According to The NY Post, Mariah Carey is angry and hurt that Eminem has been playing private voice-mail messages she left for him in 2001 to audiences of his "Anger Management" tour. During one scene in his show, Eminem is talking to the audience when Carey's song, "We Belong Together," comes on. Eminem berates the deejay and then Carey's messages start to play. "I heard you were getting back with your ex-wife," she says. "Why won't you see me? Why won't you call me? You're not calling me . . ." As the messages play; Eminem pretends to vomit and then launches into his song, "Puke," Friends of Carey say Eminem's anger toward the diva stems from the winter of 2001, when she asked for his help on her Charmbracelet album. Eminem was annoyed when Carey denied that they had an affair but still wrote a song about their relationship for the album. Carey's manager, Benny Medina, said that although Mariahs camp appreciates him as an artist, "Lately his work has seemed tasteless and unnecessarily mean-spirited. The public seems to agree ,just look at his declining record and concert ticket sales.""

News: Huge turnout for 'Unfinished Business'

"WITH THE PROMISE of four major league performers who were not on the bill for last month's Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest 2005, 'Star Jam 2K5 - Unfinished Business' pulled a bumper crowd into Pier 1, Montego Bay, on Saturday night.

When the show was over at 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, of the four, closing performer Bounty Killer had settled the issue of his being left off the Sumfest line-up and addressed Beenie Man sternly, Vybz Kartel had dropped a deluge of lyrics and Fantan Mojah worked an unrehearsed set with the Anger Management Band, which handled all the artiste support duties for the night.

Bounty explained the absence of the fourth at the end of his 50-minute set. "Unfortunately Buju the Gargamel got stuck in Pittsburgh. We couldn't just leave the stage like that," he said.

Movie Star and Allan Ranks were the concert's hosts.

The band took a break after the night's sole female, Lady Champagne, whose "tuck een yu tongue" reply to 'tuck een yu belly' was the solitary spark with the audience in her brief showing."

News: Renaissance Disco Celebrates 16 Years

"THE RENAISSANCE Crew blazed up the Palisadoes Strip with musical madness last Saturday as they celebrated 16 years in style.

Renaissance was joined by hundreds of fans and well wishers as they celebrated their achievement by doing what they do best. They party all night.

Patrons waited in long lines even at minutes after one Sunday morning to get into the venue. And there was no turning back once you hit the Palisadoes Strip and felt the vibes coming from the inside on the wave of blazing music.

ENDLESS PARTYING

On the inside, the bars created another attraction to the patrons who frequented. The all night complimentary Red Stripe was enough for most who drank one cup after the other while dancing as if there were no tomorrow.

The party was swinging even before 1:35 with a number of old school rap music that featured rap moguls Snoop Dogg, BIG and Tupac when the selectors announced that they were still in the early segment and hoped to go until seven Sunday morning.

The proceedings took another turn at about 1:55 and was taken to another level with selections like Buju's Til Shiloh and Sizzla's Praise Ye Jah. The crowd seemed absorbed in the music and many used lighters to show their satisfaction."

News: Rudder Brings Fans to Tears

"David Rudder brought fans to tears at the opening of the first Tobago Gourmet Jazz Festival on Friday night, despite the confusion surrounding his arrival at the venue, Plymouth Recreational Grounds.

For more than three hours, Rudder and his band were left stranded at Grafton Beach Resort, where they had been put up, as show promoters had forgotten to pick them up.

When Rudder, who was scheduled to perform fifth on the show’s line-up of 11 entertainers, arrived, he had already missed his turn.

When he approached the stage, hoping to perform, he was not allowed to do so by the stage manager. Only after the intervention of local officials was the calypso icon allowed to perform last in the line-up.

Rudder performed after international reggae artiste Shaggy.

But the show’s hosts, Adrian Don Mora and Jus Jase, failed to introduce him, and some patrons had already begun to leave the venue, since they thought the show had ended with Shaggy’s performance.

This did not stop Rudder from overwhelming the remaining patrons with his popular hits.

Friday’s show, which began more than an hour late, attracted thousands, but most of the audience were holders of free tickets.

First up was Tobago All Star Jazz Band, followed by several local acts, including Mungal Patasar and Michael Boothman.

The night’s first international act was Angie Stone, who was originally scheduled to perform on Saturday night.

Soca artiste Machel Montano, in his usual exuberant style, had patrons on their feet.

During his performance Shaggy encountered a number of technical difficulties.

Some disgruntled patrons also complained that his performance was mediocre, and that they needed a little less talking from the reggae star, who was accompanied by Rayvon.

Saturday night’s show was clearly more organised, and had an earlier start.

Internationally-renowned soul singer Natalie Cole, who was originally carded to perform last night, wowed fans and produced the first real jazz performance since the start of the festival.

Half-way during her performance, Cole kicked off her shoes and removed a pink rose which adorned her hair, as she got more comfortable with her screaming fans.

Cole, who did an impromptu performance of her hit, “Mr Melody,” surprised both back-up singers and band members who quickly rose to the challenge, delivering a near perfect jazzed up version of the song.

Another international act, Babyface, had the women in the crowd screaming for more.

His performance was very mellow as he sat on a chair, strumming his guitar as he sang his hits.

In attendance were Tourism Minister Howard Chin Lee, Education Minister Hazel Manning, Housing Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Tobago House of Assembly Chief Secretary Orville London.

Organisation of American States education ministers, who attended a conference in Tobago last week, also took in the show. "

News: Fire Fete 2 Review @ Caribana

"Toronto was artistically set ablaze on Caribana Sunday night when the heavily advertised Fire Fete 2 concert came off at the Kool Haus near Lake Ontario in the south of the city. It was a follow-up concert to an event which was totally sold out in its first staging on May 23, so anticipation was understandably high.

There was controversy in the final two weeks preceding the July 31 Fire Fete 2 when KMC and his Red, White & Black Band were dropped from the bill. That entity was replaced by Joey Ng Wai and Imij & Co.

The venue was jam-packed as it is on show night and with little room to even shift around in the Kool Haus, the queues outside were stretched out, curling around the huge entertainment complex. Those fortunate on the inside were anticipating a treat and they got precisely that. From getting off the starting blocks, the action was fiery and formidable at Fire Fete 2.

Denise Belfon was her saucy self and wowed the audience into sigh and gasps of awe as she strutted her eye-popping live act to the total enticement of everyone, particularly the men-folk.

Imij & Co had themselves a long night and productive one at that. With former frontliner Russell Cadogan back in the group, Imij & Co not only showed their musical and vocal versatility, they also provided back-up music for all the live acts. The solo acts included Iwer George, the Hitman and Antiguan Wanski. Soon enough though, the proceedings got to star-time and as the curtains were drawn, the stage erupted with the appearance of the soca industry’s most compelling and energetic entertainer, Machel Montano.

Accompanied by his group Xtatik, Machel had the place like an inferno, typical of a bona fide Fire Fete 2. The capacity turnout, frenetically brandishing national flags of every Caribbean country one can imagine, got “mad” and beside itself with merriment. They were simply ecstatic!

Part of Machel’s plan seemed to make them get “madder than that” as Xtatik’s electric exhibition grew in intensity and excitement.

Xtatik’s repertoire was varied, and the group’s fans were just completely engaging their hearts, minds and time, similar to what occurred at the May 23 Fire Fete 1.

The capacity crowd had its fill of the stellar performers of the night, who very rarely fail to deliver. They most certainly didn’t fail on this occasion.

This writer was debarred from shooting photos on stage by strict security personnel when Xtatik began its live performance. "

News: Another G-Unit Signing?

"Just when you thought the G-Unit signings were over, I’m hearing there is another one on the way. At a recent show at the Tweeter Center at Mansfield, Massachusetts, 50 Cent brought Ma$e on stage and the normally slow-talking rapper spit out “G-G-G-G-UNIT!” Murda Ma$e then walked off. Later during 50's performance, I hear the G-Unit General officially announced that the minister has defected Bad Boy. Word is Mason already has a G-Unit spinner! Ma$e and MOP in the same building? CRAZY! By the way, that 50 Cent video for “Piggy Bank” is insane. The G-Unit graphics dude really bodied the comp on that one. As you can see, 50 made Jadakiss into a Mutant Ninja Turtle, Fat Joe into a boxer, Nas into a superboy, The Game into a Mr. Potatohead and other mini disses are sprinkled throughout the video. Wow."

News: www.iDancehall.com

Got this emailed to me and thought it was a great idea... I can see this as something that will eventually get big....

They should look into putting reviews on their sites of various events or for each flyer allow people to post comments. I don't know about other places but here in toronto there are just some promotors you know NOT to trust and there are some that always come through.

Another idea is to allow me to provide an add on my site pulling from their database that will feature events in the area of the visitor at the time. I'm sure something like this is possible.. but I would use it.
