News: Wayne Marshall, Throw Mi Corn Riddim, Ice Cube Riddim and Anthony B
"Wayne Marshall's latest single, The Love That Makes Us One, is among the prime delicacies on the Move rhythm out of Arif Cooper's Fresh Ear label. Marshall delivers the single with urgency, and its lyrical content is commendable. It is a relevant follow-up to his recent chart-topper Make Them Come. Apart from Marshall's effort, the Move rhythm (the follow-up to Cooper's Phantom rhythm) features other interesting tracks. Among them are Move Your Body by Sultex, Don't Stop Moving by TOK, Nah Surrender by Beenie Man, The Visit by Baby Cham, and Praise The Lord by Black-er. Also featured on the rhythm are Zodiac Sign by Sanjay, Hardcore by Xsytement, Give It To Me by Vybz Kartel featuring Flava Unit, and Wine by Elephant Man."

News of the settlements between attorney Andre R Bertrand and ADAMI and SPEDIDAM was reported in the June 30 edition of French newspaper Le Monde.
"This sum is paid in lieu of the equitable remunerations due and payable to the Jamaicans featured for the broadcast of their recordings in France during the past several years," Le Monde reported. News: Fully Loaded sound clash - take no prisoners
"FULLY LOADED ON Sunday night was not only about the performers.
The sound systems generated their own excitement for the thousands who showed up. At times it seemed as if the audience was more interested in the 'tracing' and word slinging than in the live performances.
Juggling kicked off quite early. By 11 p.m., Stars International was kicking up heat, warming things up for the constant word dropping and dub-plate flashing that the others would later take up."

News: No More Sumfest for Sizzla
"Singjay Sizzla, whose career has been dogged by legal controversies in recent months, is likely not to perform on Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest next year, the sponsors and organisers have hinted.
At a press briefing last Saturday afternoon at Montego Bay's Richmond Hill Inn, Sumfest organisers and sponsors cagily indicated, without naming anyone, that "an artiste had breached the agreed code of the Sponsors Coalition with respect to inciting violence in their lyrics".
The line was obviously a clear reference to Sizzla's scorching Dancehall Night performance last Thursday, which was peppered with repeated exhortations to "bun b.... man" and included the defiant anti-gay tirade "Bad man nah apologise to no b.... boy"."

News: A Fully Loaded Experience
"FULLY LOADED carried its usual temper into 2005. Known as a well-supported, fiery, sometimes volatile show, it did not miss the mark on Sunday night inside the James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St. Mary.
From the heated selectors spinning fire-breathing dubplates against each other, to the outspoken lashings from deejay Bounty Killer, the show lived up to its reputation.
One haunting reputation that also surfaced with this was security concerns. Though the venue is huge, it was full. Two scuffles inside, one after 2 a.m. and the other two hours later, sparked small stampedes which threatened the vibe, but fans ignored them and continued partying shortly afterwards. Apart from that, and the reported clash between selector Foota Hype and security personnel, things flowed.
On the show side, St. Mary loved the package."

News: The Night Sizzla Erupted
"On a night that had Lady Saw praising the Lord and roots reggae moralist I-Wayne delving into the profane, the 2005 renewal of Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest Dancehall managed to meet both the positive and negative expectations of the bumper audience that thronged the Catherine Hall grounds to partake of the entertainment on offer.
Thursday night's showcase had all the dancehall stereotypes in effect: the revealing outfits, the silencing of the backing band by the artistes for extended "talks" with the audience, the innumerable commands to "wheel" (halt to restart) and an opening half peopled mainly by the wanna-bes, the also-rans and the eminently forgettables."

"SOMEWHERE BETWEEN GERMANY and Jamaica, somewhere between the early 1990s, Gentleman emerged from the cocoon of Tielman Otto, complete with fluent Jamaican speech and rhythm in his bones.
Tillmann Otto came to Jamaica from the city of Cologne looking for the roots of the records that his big brother played in Germany and left with the new sound of dancehall, but with the enduring roots attitude, which he maintains to this day.
And it is in this mode that he delivers Superior, which is on the Reggae Gold 2005 album, the 13th in the annual series from VP Records. It is the second single from his third album, Confidence."

"From yu know yu bellly no bang,
And yu know seh yu look good inna yu thong..."
Those words from the Leftside and Esco track Tuck In Yuh Belly evoke war cries from big bellied women.
The tune, produced on their 'throwback giggy' rhythm, squarely tackles the woman with the waistline bulge, challenging her to lose the 'bang' so she can 'look good in her thong' and wear other summer clothes.
Leftside and Esco say it is all in good fun, but some women are not amused. Others have taken it lightly, while a few have actually taken more pride in the ripples around the waistline."

Audio: The Queen of the Pack is BACK!!!
I remember reading on DancehallReggae.com sometime in the last few months a thread about the whereabouts of Patra and where she is at now. Well she is back. She has a new site out and some new singles being released that will be on the new up and coming album which is scheduled to be released this year.
One thing I personally would love to see is a few combination tunes. Maybe a PATRA AND SHABBA combo for the new album to bring back two wicked artists. Hmmm..... Let me see if anyones listening.
FROM THE PATRA JOURNAL: "Hello everyone! I am so happy to be back. I am in Jamaica now finishing up my new album and hope you all will like it. I will hopefully be coming to a town near you soon. "AT 36, LADY Saw can count her blessings in the music arena.
In the fickle dancehall world, where she has made both enemies and friends, the friends showed their support for her with a whopping turnout for her birthday party on Sunday night.
Last year, she took it inside the Asylum Nightclub in St. Andrew, but this time she took it to the beach. A sea of supporters turned up to celebrate with her, packing into every inch of the Reggae Beach, just outside of Ocho Rios in St Ann.
The boos and claps for the show were not many, but they were all concentrated towards the early segments. They reserved it for, and gave it to acts like LA Lewis, Christus, Hot Ice among others after their first few syllables. Those aside, however, they tolerated everyone else."

News: Sumfest '05 off to rocking start
"FOR PARTICIPANTS, it was fun and frolic galore as after soaking up the early afternoon pleasures of the scenic white sand beach, they were treated to music from sound systems such as Code Red, Soul Faith Hi Fi and Soul 2 Soul. There was also riveting live band music from the Ocho Rios based PACE band.
HAPPY TO BE SPARED
"We are happy that the hurricane did not affect us as we were quite worried two days ago," said Johnny Gourzong, executive director of Summerfest Productions, the promoters of the annual music festival. "We are hopeful that we will have good weather for the remainder of the festival."
With DJ Squeeze (Mega Jamz) and Arif Cooper (Fame FM) manning the turntables during the early segment, it was like a journey through Jamaica's music as patrons were treated to a wonderful mix of ska, rocksteady, roots rock and hardcore reggae.
In one of the hardcore reggae segments, several florescent bulbs fell from the roof of the main building as the drum and bass in the rhythms engulfed the beach.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m., the sound systems made way for the PACE band, which was positioned on an exquisitely decorated stage mounted in the sand close to the main building."
