News: Morning end to 'Spring Bling'

AT NEARLY 5:45 A.M. on Saturday, after his fiancée D'Angel had backed up on him, bent over and wiggled away as they did One Man You Got and the audience howled, Beenie Man made an unwelcome announcement.

"De police waan lock it off, but a no my fault," he said, saying later that "de whole a we come ya fi work, but de man dem bum rush de ting an disrespec' de ting."

He was the start of the second wave of 'mass performers', Bounty Killer leading out the first some time earlier with Eagle and The Hawk, the stage getting filled with Movado, Schoolboy, Elephant Man, Vybz Kartel, Mr. Lex, Bling Dawg, Wayne Marshall, Hollow Point, Aidonia and Capleton.

Still, after Beenie's comment, 'Spring Bling', held at the Constant Spring football field, Constant Spring Road, went on a bit longer, Kip Rich storming on with Liquor, a huge forward coming from the substantial audience as Assassin chanted "a no me mek yu catty waan stray" and Merciless squeezing Ol Gallis on a rhythm. As Kip Rich deejayed "a de cell phone a gi weh bad man" in the early morning, a truck with bundles of cane and a gaggle of persons heading to market got caught up in the traffic outside the football field.
