News: Trini Bashment launches Soca Thursdays

"Pier 1 will feel the Soca fever on Thursday 22 September when local radio station, Trini Bashment 91.9FM launches its Soca Thursdays. However, Bashment owner and Soca King, Neil “Iwer” George maintains that this is just the beginning.

“There must be a place you can go to hear the music of your land,” George said. “If a camera crew from BET or MTV comes to Trinidad, we have to put on a show from them. I want them to know there is a place they can just fall into and get the vibes of this land.”

Every Thursday, all featured artists will be treated like royalty, arriving and departing in a limousine. The show will be broadcast live on 91.9 FM and from next month, shown on Synergy TV. Maximus Dan will be performing this week.

George explained that he sees Soca Thursdays as a “stepping” stone for a concert series that will run every week leading up to Carnival 2006.

“I want this to be a fun thing where the Soca loving people can benefit from the event. Stay tuned to 91.9 FM for the rundown on who will perform every Thursday,” he said."
