News: Reggae Chart Updates

"Elephant Man scores his fourth Billboard R&B Singles chart entry

He has hit the Billboard R&B Singles chart on three previous occasions with songs such as Pon De River, Pon De Bank, Signal The Plane and Jook Gal (Wine Wine). Elephant Man scores his fourth entry this week as Father Elephant moves up from number 86 to number 66.

Father Elephant which is on the Black Chiney-produced Kopa rhythm was a local chart hit a few months ago.

Junior Gong debuts at number 13 on the UK Singles chart

Red hot Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley continues his chart dominance. After debuting at number seven on the Billboard 200 album chart last week with his latest disc Welcome To Jamrock, the title track single debuts at number 13 on the UK Singles chart. Marley's album slipped six spots from number 42 to number 48 on the UK Album chart.

In the US, the album Welcome To Jamrock plunged from number seven to number 22. On the Billboard Hot 100, the single Welcome To Jamrock slipped from number 55 to number 65, while on the R&B Singles chart it slipped from 23 to 26.

CHART UPDATES

On the UK Singles chart this week, Kanye West and Jamie Foxx were far from strong enough to muscle their way to number one, as they had to settle for a number-two debut with their hit Gold Digger. The Pussy Cat Dolls featuring Busta Rhymes hung on to number one for a third week with Don't Cha. Sean Paul's We Be Burnin slipped one place down to number three. On the UK album chart, David Gray stood firm at the top with Life In Slow Motion."
