Kardinal Offishall Ft The Clipse - "SET IT OFF"

I can’t say that Kardi is my one of my favorite Canadian rappers… he is my one of my favorite rappers world wide.  His style is smooth and he is one of the most versatile artists I know.  He has been in the business so long and I can’t believe its taking this long for somebody big in the business (Akon) to grab him up.  Everything Kardi will touch is going to be gold.  Just WATCH!

Dancehall DJs Urged to be Professionals

FOUNDER AND publisher of the Reggae Report magazine, Peggy Quattro, has taken leading dancehall performers to task, saying their violent lyrics and unprofessional conduct have alienated music industry heads in North America and Europe.

Quattro told The Gleaner that recent events involving dancehall acts Bounty Killer and Mavado, and Red Stripe's boycott of some live shows, have made it even more difficult to market the genre outside of Jamaica.

"They (record companies) are looking for professional artistes who will deliver a good product so they can sell records," Quattro said. "But these guys incite violence wherever they go, charge outrageous fees and don't show up on time. They are their own worst enemies."

Quattro did not name the record companies, but said their concerns are similar to Red Stripe's announcement in April that negatives associated with dancehall had forced it to withdraw financial support from major events.

Beenie Man and D'Angel Working Things Out?

It appears Moses "Beenie Man" Davis and Michelle "D'Angel" Downer are reconciling their differences and all indications appear that the former Jamaica power couple are being civil once more. Beenie Man has definitely been seeing their baby, Marco Dean very frequently as well. Beenie and D'Angel have also been spotted at Weddy Weddy.

Ninja Man in Canada after 21 years

Dressed in all white, Ninja Man took his seat at the front of the conference centre, appearing relaxed, and focused on discussing the One Umbrella Movement and its' organization, which promotes non-violence, especially amongst the youth.
"There is no one better than me to head this movement. Bounty can't do it; Beenie Man can't do it. Only a man like me who has lived the life I've lived can be a role model to these youths, and telling them that if they go the path of drugs, they will end up like this, or if they take up a gun, they will end up like that. I've been down that road, which everyone knows, and it's time for me to take up this cause to save the youths from a life that's not good. I know; I've been there as everybody knows. The only two other man who could do this is Josie Whales, or Super Cat. We know that violence will never be eliminated, but we can at least bring violence down, and I am going to do it"! So said Ninja Man when asked how his life's experience has prepared him for this role

It's been 21 years since Ninja Man has touched Canadian soil, but this past weekend put that two decade absence to an end as Ninja Man, escorted by his wife, held a press conference at York University promoting the One Umbrella Movement founded by the Don Gargon himself.

"The press conference is being held to let the people know that after 21 years, Ninja Man is able to travel to Canada and also to spread awareness for the One Umbrella Movement" said Fabian 'Fabo' Hanson of Vibes Entertainment, who is responsible for obtaining Ninja Man's travel documents to Canada, as well as the United States. Fabo, long time business man, promoter and immigration consultant, has been chosen by Ninja to head the Canadian chapter of the One Umbrella Movement. The One Umbrella Movement was officially launched in Jamaica December, of 2007.

Make Boyz Cry - "Busted" Video

If you ever caught in a three way.. just turn off the phone.

GlobalFX

Current Version: 0.8.3.1

Download Link: GlobalFX

I'm pleased to share this small program with everyone that will hopefully fill a void in their DJ setup.

GlobalFX is a sample playing program. This program will let you to assign hot keys to sound FX and allow you to trigger these samples whenever you press the hot key. The program will sit in the background or system tray so it will not interfere with any foreground programs running such as Serato ScratchLive. I mainly wrote it to use with ScratchLive but should work with other programs as well. Sound is played through the default sound card.

Requirements:

GlobalFX currently runs on XP SP2 or Vista. It uses the Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 and this will be installed from the net by the installer if it is not installed. (64bit OS's are not supported.)

We have also confirmed that this also runs on German and Russian keyboards. I do not see many problems on other keyboards as you assign the keys by pressing them.

Installation/Setup:

Extract the archive and run the 'setup.exe'. If you don't have the Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 installed (more than likely you don't) it will install it. You will need to run a cable from the line out of your computer sound card to a channel on the mixer that you will use. Once installed it will create a shortcut on your desktop and in your start menu.

How to use it:

After you load it you basically select ADD and start adding your WAV or MP3 files. You can adjust the volume it will play back at by default and the key combination. You also have the option to add some basic effects to the samples.

Uninstall:

Go to your control panel and remove it through the Add/Remove programs.

Known Issues:

None at this moment that I know of. However who knows what I missed. Feel free to send me any bugs you find via email at knockz@djknockz.com.

Disclaimer:

I am not a programmer but managed to put this together. It does nothing destructive to your system. Other than the .NET installation it installs all its files to the "C:\program files\globalfx" folder and only modifies the INI file sitting in that folder when run. With this being said, still be careful. I'm not responsible for anything it may do to your computer. Please test it heavily at home before taking it out for a live trial. If anything goes wrong please shoot me a PM or reply to the thread and hopefully I will be able to figure it out. Use at your own risk.

Future Releases:

I am nearing the final version 1.0 of this product and am hoping to stamp out any bugs. I do not plan on adding any more features at this time other than a configuration screen for the sample effects. But I would rather focus on fixing any bugs for now.

Change Log:

0.8.3.1 - June 4th, 2008

* Hot key selection is now done by pressing the key combination that you want to use.

0.8.2.1 - May 16th, 2008

* Fixed "disable global keys bug"
* Added option "momentarily" to samples to play that sample only while the key is held down.
* Rewrote keyboardhook class to work with the momentarily feature.
* Windows key is no longer available as an option
* Other small bug fixes.

0.8.0.1 - May 11th, 2008

* Prevents a blank friendly name from being entered.

0.8.0.0 - May 4th, 2008

* Added the ability to assign effects to a sample (echo/flanger/reverb)
* Fixed a bug with the tray icon not being removed upon restore.
* The last playing sample is now highlighted in the list.

0.7.0.1 - May 2nd, 2008

* Now supports both MP3 and WAV files (Should be able to also add AIFF/MP2/MP1/OGG but I have not tested that).
* Now minimizes to the system tray. Can restore with a double click.
* Can assign a key to stop all playing samples by leaving hte file name blank.
* Key list has been moved internally in program. INI file no longer distributed with program.
* Few small bug fixes to avoid program crashing.
* Logs of program code updates for efficiency.

0.5.0.0 - March 31st, 2008

* First public release.

Sting 1990 - Shabba Ranks Vs Ninja Man Clash Video

And yet another!!!!!

Ninja Man Vs Super Cat Clash Video

I just had to post this classic clash video!!!

Junior Reid speaks up on the Buju Banton Incident

This looks like it is Junior Reids side the the story of what happened backstage at the Best of the Best show.  As always there are two sides to the story and we may or may not hear Buju’s side.  But there is no need for any of this with the veteran artist.

Junior Reid has denied media reports that he and Buju Banton were involved in a fist-throwing altercation backstage during the Best of the Best show at the Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami in late May.

He told one876entertainment that the whole situation stemmed from an incident in which Buju Banton maligned his name in front of Reid’s 13 year-old daughter, Destiny.

image “I was there holding a vibe for the show and my daughter and her friends went over to Buju Banton because she is a big fan of Buju. She introduced herself as Junior Reid’s daughter, and Buju said, ‘who Junior Greed?’. My daughter was very embarrassed, and she asked me, ‘daddy, what you and Buju Banton have?’. I told her ‘no worry yourself, him no approach me to my face in that way’,” he explained.

He said that he regained his composure and prepared himself mentally for his onstage performance. After performing, he said he went to the press tent where he glimpsed Buju Banton. He began to do his interviews, and was surrounded by press personnel when Buju Banton, who had concluded his own interviews, attempted to hail him.

The Fastest Man in the World is Jamaican

Usain Bolt from Jamaica not only won the 100m sprint at the Reebok Grand Prix this weekend.  He set the new world record beating the current record by .02 of a second.

It was good to see all the Jamaican supporters out in New York.  This is big as he destroyed the competition and is now looking like a favourite in the Olympics.  Everyone else will have to step up.

I think the most amazing part of this story is that the 100m isn't even his race... and he only just started running it.  Check the link for the full story.
